The supporters of Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, trooped out in their thousands as they held Independence Day rallies in Lagos on October 1, 2022.
From Surulere to Lekki, and from Ikeja to the Festac area of Lagos, many of the supporters on Saturday morning were seen holding the posters of the LP candidate and his running mate, Yusuf Baba-Ahmed, with branded vests, as they marched around and moved to the bridge leading to the Lekki toll gate.
Our reporter noticed private cars and commercial bus drivers finding alternative routes out of the traffic on the Lekki-Epe Expressway, as the traffic was almost at a standstill.

Also, the rally caused both human and vehicular traffic around the Stadium axis, from Alaka and Teslim Balogun Stadium and down to Ojuelegba.
A side attraction
During the rally, a young lady who is one of the supporters of Peter Obi, was filmed eating “Agbado”. Agbado is a Yoruba word for boiled or roast corn.
The snack has gained even more prominence this election season since Bola Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos and presidential candidate for the 2023 election, referenced it as one of the staples to provide jobs for young Nigerians, in an infamous speech.
In the video clip recorded by Quest Times, another supporter was seen mimicking the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate as the lady was eating the corn.
