Several reactions have trailed the protest of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) over the continuous strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
The students’ protests led to the blocking of the roads leading to the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos.
Quest Times earlier reported that the students defied the heavy downpour to cause gridlock on the road leading to the airport, leaving many travellers stranded.
Several Nigerians took to Twitter to express their views on the actions of NANS.
Some of the reactions monitored by Quest Times at this time are:
Fash360degrees (@fash360degree) said “So protest is Backing ASUU against govt, how would #NANS protest against ASUU’s wickedness? Do you mean FG must pay and concede to all ASUU’s demands? How do you tell Opposition pushing ASUU, it is enough politics with Students’ destinies? FG goofed foot dragging till now.”
SHERIFF QUADRY (@SheriffQuadry) said “Majority of those saying that NANS should block the airport because politicians use it are just speaking out of ignorance. Absolute ignorance is thinking that blocking the airport ✈️road will affect the politicians. Poverty na itiot las las.”
Francis Nwapa (@FNwapa) said “I am 100% in Solidarity with the NANS on the decision to barricade all int’l Airports til the irresponsible Gov’t yield to demands of ASUU. I advise Youths to divert energy used in campaigning for these rouge Politicians into the struggle to End ASUU Strike. Education is a Right!”
I hate cassava die (@SureboyPrecious) said “APC should be ashamed of themselves, they are a big disgrace to this country. They still have the guts to contest for Presidency after keeping students at home for 7months, what audacity. I really like what NANS is doing, they should shut down Abuja airport road as well.”
The Mind (@Drexzydan) said “NANS should mobilize the entire Nigerian students to join in the national protest over the lingering ASUU strike. If everyone is uncomfortable then maybe there will be an adjustment to how things are done.”
