*Says youth will surely win next time
Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello has opined that his courage to contest at the recently concluded All Progressives Congress (APC) party primary was a bold statement to the political class that the youths, women and people living with special needs truly matter.
The governor who got a grand, heroic reception from the people of the state, alongside party stakeholders and loyalists, made the disclosure on Sunday.
Governor Bello asserted that if he had not contested, he would not have gained the experiences and as well learnt the lessons, stating that now he was fully aware of who the Nigerian elites were, as they also know who he was.

He pointed out that if the Kogi APC party faithful desired to actualise the dream of youth emerging as the nation’s president, they must ensure that the APC wins in the forthcoming election at all levels.
“Kogi is for APC, APC is for Kogi. The way we did it in 2015 and repeated similar steps in 2019 for President Muhammadu Buhari, we must do it again in 2023 for Bola Ahmed Tinubu to emerge as the president of the federal republic of Nigeria.
“We are going to give a number that has never been scored in the history of Kogi,” Yahaya Bello said.
“We will deliver in Kogi by mobilising the women and the youth to ensure the victory of the party’s candidate, while we ensure that the opportunity remains open for us in subsequent times,” he pointed out.
Recall that the Kogi governor bagged 47 votes at the APC presidential primary to lose to former Lagos Governor Bola Tinubu who had 1,271 votes to defeat his closest rivals, ex-minister Rotimi Amaechi and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
While Amaechi polled 316 votes, Osinbajo scored 235 votes.
