Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has given the reason why his Kogi counterpart Yahaya Bello “excused himself” from a meeting of northern governors of the All Progressives Congress, APC, with President Muhammadu Buhari.
Earlier, in a video that surfaced online, Bello is seen walking out of a building, while Abdullahi Sule, Nasarawa governor, appears to be trying to calm him down, with Babagana Zulum, Borno governor, also coming out of the building shortly afterwards.
The video of the Kogi governor’s action surfaced shortly after the northern APC governors met with President Buhari on their decision to ask the APC to zone its presidential ticket to the South.

On reason for the Kogi governor’s action, El-Rufai said “the Kogi governor is against the decision of his colleagues on zoning the presidential ticket to the South.”
He said this at a media briefing on Monday, June 7, shortly after the governors concluded the meeting with Buhari.
According to him, 13 of the 19 APC governors from the north agreed that the party’s presidential ticket be zoned to the south, excluding the Kogi governor who kicked against the decision for undisclosed reason.
Quest Times understands this comes as the APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu picked the Senate President Ahmad Lawan as the party’s consensus candidate, a development other aspirants kicked against.
