Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has given reasons for excusing himself from the meeting of Northern governors in the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Recall that the Kogi State Governor, in a viral video on Monday, June 6, protested against a Southern presidency.
Following this, the Governor of Kaduna Nasir El-Rufai disclosed to newsmen that the APC presidential aspirant is democratically right to “excuse himself” while offering reason for the latter’s action.

On the reason for the Kogi governor’s protest, El-Rufai said “He (Yahaya Bello) is against the decision of his colleagues on zoning the presidential ticket to the South.”
But reacting on Tuesday during a press briefing monitored by Quest Times, Governor Bello said certain forces in the party ganged up to prevent the voices of over 26 million Nigerians.
“Nobody consulted me over the decision that they (his colleagues) took, and I would rather say that they were ruled by certain interest.
“I have kicked against the issue of zoning several times because the insecurity confronting us doesn’t respect turn-by-turn presidency.
“Every part of this country is faced with insecurity and we want peace and unity in the country, and that I stand for,” he said.
He therefore opined that the interest of the party should be who can address the myriad problems facing Nigeria at the moment and not the issue of turn-by-turn presidency as popularised by his colleagues.
