Excited and emotional Nigerians irrespective of tribe, religion and party affiliations have congratulated Abdulaziz Yar’Adua following his victory at the Katsina Central Senatorial district election.
Abdulaziz, who ran on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is the younger brother to late Nigerian president, Umaru Musa Yar’Adua.
Following his confirmation as the winner of the election, the retired Lieutenant Colonel who bears a striking resemblance to his brother in a post on Twitter (Katsinay) thanked his supporters following his victory.
He tweeted, “I am deeply humbled and grateful for the overwhelming support from the people of Katsina Central. Thank you for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to serve you. I promise to work tirelessly to deliver on our promises and make a positive impact in our community.
“Let’s continue to work together to build a brighter future for all.”
In response to the tweet, Nigerians across the divide congratulated him on his victory, while being stunned by the shared resemblance.
They called on him to follow the footsteps of late President Yar’Adua who they described as the best president in Nigeria’s history despite his brief administration. With some stating that distinguishing himself in the Senate could give him the opportunity to finish what his brother couldn’t.
