Nigerians have expressed shock on social media following the release of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Expression of Interest and presidential nomination forms which costs a mind-boggling N100 million.
The N100m represents the highest figure for a presidential nomination form in Nigeria’s history. This is in sharp contrast with the opposition Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) presidential form, which cost N40m.
The breakdown sees the Expression of Interest form at N30 million, while the presidential nomination goes for N70 million. The cost of forms for other positions include State House of Assembly (N2m), House of Representatives (N10m), Senate (N20m) and Governor (N50m)
In reaction to the development, some Nigerians took to Twitter, questioning the rationale behind such a high cost. Others noted that the cost has already ruled out young Nigerians from aspiring for the Presidency on the APC platform.
