Reactions have been trailing the reports of the arrest of former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, and his wife, Beatrice, who were charged by the Metropolitan Police with conspiring to bring a child to the UK in order to harvest organs.

The couple was arrested in London by the Specialist Crime Team of the UK Metropolitan Police.

In a statement on Thursday, the Metropolitan Police confirmed that the pair conspired to facilitate the travel of a child to the county in order to harvest the minor’s organ(s), Quest Times reports.

The police added that the investigation was launched after detectives were alerted to potential offences under modern slavery legislation in May 2022.

It, however, added that the child has been taken into protective custody.

Following the disclosure, Nigerians have taken to the micro-blogging site, Twitter to share their views about the development.

Here are some reactions gathered by Quest Times below;

The Ike Ekweremadu who promised PDP my vote and the votes of all South Easterners might actually be in jail when the election will hold in Nigeria.

Inside life.

Ike Ekweremadu said South East will rather vote an Hausa (Atiku) from PDP not Peter Obi from Labour Party, that he doesn’t have any political structure in Igbo Land.

24 hours later, there is an allegation of Ike Ekweremadu involved in Organ Harvesting.

Coincidence?

It seems God is on the side of Peter Obi and the #OBIdients. The other day, Fr. Mbaka said if Obi wins the presidency he'd close down his Ministry, the same was closed down by the church. What happened to Ike Ekweremadu i think we should not get political about it and be celebrating.; sadly a former deputy senate president of the FRN and it is bad for us all at international level. One may not be in his camp but it is shameful and justice should be served 100%

I love the way God just dey fight for Peter Obi

National embarrassment like former Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu is involved in organ harvesting. How did we get here? Look at the people that are ruling Nigeria, This Bad.
