The presidential candidate of the governing All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, on Tuesday, caused a stir online after he said ‘God Bless PDP,’ instead of APC, in an ongoing campaign rally of the party in Jos, the Plateau State capital.
It is not the first time the septuagenarian has fumbled while delivering a public address; and his frequent gaffes have become meme materials for Nigeria’s creative sector.
Tinubu has repeatedly been called out for his goofs or verbal slips as he sets out his stall for a presidential run next Spring.
It will be recalled that Tinubu had in October said Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has a knack for turning “rotten situations to bad ones.”
The incident sparked rumours that Tinubu, who just returned from a foreign trip, might be suffering from dementia.

He was speaking at the seventh edition of KadInvest, an annual event organised by the Kaduna State Investment Promotion Agency.
“We’re not going to let you run away, your vision, creativity and resiliency in turning a rotten situation to a bad one is necessary at this critical time, that’s why we are here today,” Tinubu told El-Rufai.
In the latest gaffe, Tinubu, who joined President Muhammadu Buhari, as well as other party stalwarts at the Rwang Pam Township Stadium, Jos, Plateau State, venue of the Presidential campaign flag-off on Tuesday, prayed for blessings for the opposition political party rather than his own.
Tinubu, while speaking to the crowd, wanted to say God bless APC but ended up saying God bless PDP before checking and correcting himself.
“God bless Nigeria, God bless PD, APC,” he stuttered.
