Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, says he won the Osun 2018 gubernatorial election constitutionally, adding that he did not steal anybody’s mandate to become governor.
Oyetola made the clarification on Sunday while featuring on ChannelsTV for the Osun Governorship Debate 2022.
The Peoples Democractic Party candidate, Ademola Adeleke, who also participated in the debate, had accused the governor of stealing his mandate in 2018 after the election was declared inconclusive by INEC.

Reacting to the allegation by the PDP candidate, the governor said his opponent pursued his case to the Supreme Court and lost.
“You (referring to Adeleke) pursued your case to the Supreme Court and you lost and that is the highest court of the land. The idea of stolen mandate… I don’t know where the mandate is stolen.
“The court has decided precisely who wins that election and it is me,” Oyetola emphatically stated.
Earlier, Adeleke promised to bring back community policing to solve the insecurity challenge in his state if elected governor.
According to him, Nigerians do not have the money to own guns to protect themselves even if the senate approves such.
“Nigerians don’t even have the money to buy weapons. I will promote community policing.
“When I was growing up in Ede, we had neighborhood watch, which alerts neighbours of any stranger and protects the area.
“Let’s bring it (community policing) back to attack insecurity in our neighbourhoods. State police is a constitutional matter and we don’t want to go against it until the senate amends the constitution for us to have the state police,” he said.
