All Progressives Congress, APC, Presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, confirmed former Borno Governor Kashim Shettima as his running mate on Sunday.
This came shortly after the “place holder” running mate, Alhaji Ibrahim Masari, withdrew from the race.
Below are some things to know about the APC Vice Presidential candidate in the 2023 general election;
Kashim Shettima was born in Maiduguri, Borno on September 2, 1966 to the family of Sir Kashim Ibrahim.
He studied at the University of Maiduguri and earned a BSc in Agricultural Economics in 1989.
In the same year, he had his one-year compulsory membership of the NYSC at the defunct Nigerian Agricultural Cooperative Bank, Calabar, Cross River State in South-South, Nigeria, from 1989 to 1990.
Shettima was a two-time Governor of Borno and a close associate of Tinubu who has been a staunch supporter and campaigner for the APC national leader as the next President of Nigeria.
He popularised the ‘nice men like Osinbajo should be selling ice-cream’ mantra that became a campaign slogan during the build-up to the APC Presidential primaries.
He was elected Senator and he currently represents Borno Central senatorial district of Borno since 2019.
Shettima is happily married to Nana Shettima, and they have three children: two females and a male.
