Brazil forward Neymar Junior has been ruled out of the remainder of the group stage of the World Cup, but could still play a part in the tournament.
Neymar was left in tears on the bench after he sustained an ankle injury towards the end of Brazil’s 2-0 win against Serbia on Thursday, November 24.
“He’s just sprained his right ankle and it’s already swollen a little,” Brazil’s team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar said after the game.
Tottenham’s Richarlison scored twice to hand Brazil a perfect start in Group G, but the bad news is that they could now be without their talisman.
The attacker had tests on the injury on Friday, November 25 and it was confirmed he will not feature against Switzerland on Monday, but sources close to the player have told newsmen that he is optimistic that his tournament is not over.
