The Presidency has broken its silence on the shooting incident near Dutsinma, Katsina, at the convoy carrying the Advance Team of security guards, protocol and media officers ahead of the trip of President Muhammadu Buhari, to Daura for Sallah.
According to a statement signed late Tuesday by the Senior Special Assistant to the President, Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, the attackers opened fire on the convoy from ambush positions but were repelled by the military, police and DSS personnel accompanying the convoy.
“Two persons in the convoy are receiving treatment for the minor injuries they suffered.

“All the other personnel, staff and vehicles made it safely to Daura,” the statement read.
The incident comes barely days to the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations on Saturday, July 9, which President Buhari would be observing in his hometown of Daura.
Meanwhile, Femi Fani-Kayode, a former Minister of Aviation has decried the continued spate of insecurity in Nigeria.
Fani-Kayode, a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, while reacting to the recent attacks in the country in a tweet on Wednesday, said Nigeria is now the capital of mass murder and the terrorism capital of the world.
