The Minister of Interior and former Governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, is yet to show up at his home in the Ifofin area in Ilesha where he is expected to vote in the 2022 Osun governorship election, casting doubts on his participation in the exercise.
Recall that Aregbesola failed to back the re-election bid of Governor Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC), instead throwing his weight behind a former Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Moshood Adeoti, who eventually lost out to the incumbent governor in the party primaries.
According to a report by The Cable, Aregbesola who usually arrives on the eve of elections, sparking off a flurry of activities, is yet to arrive in his home as at 10.00 am on Saturday, July 16, 2022, with free akara (beans cake) being distributed at the entrance of his home.
Speaking in an interview, a neighbour of the minister said, “By now, everywhere will be bubbling with activities, because Aregbe would have entered since Friday.”
But an aide to Aregbe, as he’s fondly called, said he will eventually turn up to vote.
