Reno Omokri has caused an e-Tsunami–again.
Dude woke up, took his bath, dressed up, sprayed perfume and said that only a virgin bride is deserving of a full bride price.
If you expected anyone to allow such a comment slide, you can be sure it won’t be feminists.
Picture this for a moment.
It’s your wedding; your big day has finally come and you’re excited and all.
And then, it’s time to pay your bride price and your hubby stands up and folds N1,000 into the hands of your father.
He then grabs the microphone, and proceeds to tell the world that he can’t pay the full cost because he wasn’t the first person that parted your red sea.
I’m sure that if you had a gun, you’d test its efficiency on the young man.
If at this point, you still don’t get my drift, forget abourrit.
So the question becomes, if he’s not the first to harvest your corn, should he be responsible for paying bride price after multiple humans have reaped where they did not sow?
Anyway, Reno received the insult of his life today.
Interestingly, biblically speaking, Reno Omokri wasn’t wrong.
But that’s from an Old Testament standpoint.
Remember the woman at the well. At no point did Jesus talk to her condescendingly.
Nor did he condemn the woman caught in adultery.
Not that he condoned adultery
Let he who has never harvested another person’s corn field be the first to cast their stone.
Until then, we’re not ready for this conversation.
