She said, “My dear children in national service, I want to appreciate you for allowing yourselves to be mobilised and deployed for national development. The nationalism the Scheme is building in you is a necessary ingredient to prepare you to surmount the challenges ahead.
“You are carrying the identity of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and I want to charge you to express the patriotic and nationalistic attributes the National Youth Service Corps has deposited in you. Do not compromise the integrity of the Scheme and we shall be there for you always.
“NYSC has put in place enhanced and well-expanded structures to protect you during the service year as it has invested in publications such as Security Tips and Orientation Service Guide which contains the contact of security agencies you can get in touch with anytime you are in distress”.
Abubakar appealed to the corps members to see their enlistment in the Scheme as a privilege to unite all the constituents that make up the country.
The Ondo State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Victoria Nnenna Ani, disclosed the steps she had taken to ameliorate the shortage of hostel accommodation for both corps members and camp officials.
Ani stated that the 1,501 registered corps members have embraced the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme to secure their future.
