NSCDC withdraws officers attached to Shina Peller after he sponsored a bill to scrap the agency

Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has withdrawn the officials attached to House of Representatives member, member, Shina Peller.

This is coming after the sponsored a bill seeking to scrap the security agency.

In making a case for the scraping of the agency, Shina has said that  “scarce resources” are being wasted, as “it has now become a duplication of the police and has led to avoidable conflicts”.

In a letter written to the lawmaker explaining the reason why, the agency said that the officials are needed for an urgent national assignment.

Part of the statement by the agency reads: “Following the directive of the Commandant General on the necessity of the deployment of the command personnel for an urgent national security assignment, on behalf of the state commandant, I hereby withdraw all personnel attached to you.

“This is to meet up with the urgent national need.

“Any inconvenience this might cause is highly regretted.”
