Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu reportedly refused to address the protesting members of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) on Tuesday.
The protest was organised by NLC to support the unions in the tertiary institutions over the lingering strike.
Lagos State Chairman of NLC, Mrs Funmi Sessy, said, “We are waiting for Mr. Governor. This letter must be delivered today. We are waiting for him or his representative to collect our letter. We will wait.”

Also, some protesters were heard chanting “Sanwo-Olu ole!” in the background as security operatives calmed them to avoid breakdown of law and order.
Shortly after some persistence by the protesters to see Mr. Governor, Mrs Ajibola Ponle, the Commissioner for Lagos State Ministry of Establishments, Training and Pensions, received the letter on behalf of the Number One citizen of the State whom she claimed “was out of the State to attend to other important assignments.”
She noted that Sanwo-Olu is a listening governor and will definitely convey the letter to President Muhammadu Buhari.
Ponle however thanked the NLC for ensuring the protest was peaceful.
The Labour union had staged a protest over the lingering ASUU strike.
The protest is scheduled to continue tomorrow.
