Twitter users have reacted to a statement by President Muhammadu Buhari, telling Nigerians to vote whomever they like from whichever political party, during the 2023 general elections.
President Muhammadu Buhari had recently said that: “Nigerians should vote for whoever they like from whichever party” during the 2023 general elections.
The president stated this on Wednesday, while speaking to newsmen in London.
The president also assured that no politician will be allowed to intimidate Nigerians.
“My aim is to make sure that Nigerians believe that we respect them as an administration.
“That’s what I want to go down in Nigerian history for as a leader,” the president said.
He expressed confidence that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and its presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, would win the election.
However, a Twitter user @Batique009 described the statement as a paradox, noting that the President is projecting Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“But he’s projecting BAT….what a paradox,” he wrote.
Another user @ isaacabegye said the APC candidate, Tinubu, has been scammed.
“Tinubu has been SCAMMED!!”
@AloysiousKing concluded that the President made the statement because of his failure to impose Senate President Lawan on the party.
“All cos this failure can’t impose Lawan on other party members. Assuming he succeeded, he wouldn’t be saying all these nonsense. You rule for 8 yrs…..still want to bring another useless nonentity like you again? Nonsense Man.”
@melfordfab tweeted that President Buhari is not in any position to advice Nigerians on who to vote.
“This man is not in any position to advice Nigerians on who to vote…is he back from his trip?”
Another Twitter user @TS_TTG said that the President is correct in his official Address to Nigerians, adding that on the podium, when the jungle also matured, they shall hear from him.
“That is very correct of a President in his official Address to Nigerians. But on the podium, when the jungle also matured, we shall hear from him,” he said
