Social media users have lambasted the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over a perceived lack of transparency in the results thus far released by the electoral umpire.
@Sirkastiq tweeted “LMAOOOOO please look at results uploaded as part of Lagos results. This is what @inecnigeria is certifying as authentic??? Nasarawa results in Lagos?
“Lagosians, it’s like it’s Nasarawa you people voted o, because check out Igbo-efon result.”
According to him: “Oh you thought you were voting in VI, nahhhhh, your result just came through from Nasarawa. Here you go! LMAOOO.”
He went further and posted: “You think this only affects those in Lagos? COME OFF IT! My Kwara people, you people really voted in Lagos o!.
“Kwara, you people didn’t tell us you now have Lagos as part of your state. Na wa!
“Oh BTW, My Abuja friends, you’re not left out. Instead of results, sometimes, a letter suffices. This is just in case you see official results somewhere.”

On his part @feedufaana said: “You should have sent it privately to some certain people at LP DM directly. It’s cool we shared it already.”
Across social media platforms, INEC has received plenty of flak for not keeping its word on the electronic transmission of results after voting.
At the collation center in Abuja, PDP Campaign spokesperson Dino Melaye, caused a ruckus and led a walkout from the venue after insisting that results should only be announced after upload at a central online portal, in line with the recently signed Electoral Act.
“This election has been rigged and INEC has been compromised,” Melaye repeatedly blurted before a bevy of reporters outside the collation center.
Ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo has also called for a cancellation of results in areas where electronic voting and transmission did not take place, while noting that there’s rising tension in the land over the results released thus far by the commission.
European Union election observers have also scored the commission below average for the conduct of the elections and the tardiness and logistics snafu that characterised the entire vote.
Ahead of the election, INEC had promised voters that the deployment of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) was going to make the election fool-proof and transparent.
