The General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Dr William Kumuyi, has stated that he will neither recommend nor disqualify any political party for choosing to have a Muslim-Muslim ticket.
Ahead of 2023 general elections, some Christians have rejected in totality the Muslim/ Muslim Ticket of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, that has produced Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as the Presidential candidate and Senator Kashim Shettima as the running mate.

They described the action as an agenda to economically and politically marginalise Northern Christians.
However, Kumuyi on Wednesday at the Danbaba Suntai Airport in Jalingo, Taraba State, while addressing Journalists said only God can tell who the best leader will be and capable of ruling the country.
He insisted that humans cannot pre-empt God, hence should allow God to fulfill his purpose with citizens making their choices.
“I don’t want to get into recommending or disqualifying anyone. All we do is pray that God would give us the best leader and the best president in our country.
“He knows who and He knows what everyone would do when they get there. And God does his work in such a mysterious way that we cannot pre-empt him and say this is what will happen if this person comes in.
“But we know how God fulfilled his purpose through Nebuchadnezzar and through all the people that ruled in Bible times. And they were not all people that were on this side of the fence or theology.
“We want to leave everything in the hands of God and allow the Nigerian citizens to choose the people that would rule our country by democratically voting,” Kumuyi said.
Deeper Christian Life Ministry in July had explained that the view of its General Overseer, Williams Kumuyi on the controversial Muslim-Muslim ticket was neither a political statement nor an attack on any personality as misrepresented by some sections of the media.
Kumuyi after a courtesy call on the Governor of Kwara State, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq on Wednesday, June 22 told newsmen that the Muslim-Muslim or Christian-Christian ticket is a difficult and slippery area, therefore political office holders should look at the heartbeat of the country as well as desires of the people before taking such decisions.
The Deeper Life Church, in a statement made available to Journalists in Uyo stated that the General Overseer’s statement was a sincere admonition on the subject matter and desire for God’s guidance on the leadership of Nigeria and not to malign anyone.
The statement quoted the comments of Kumuyi to have said: “The Muslim-Muslim or Christian-Christian ticket is a difficult and slippery area.
“So, what I will say is that the political office holders should look at the heartbeat of the country as well as the desires of the people.
“Politicians should know that they are not there for themselves. They are there for all of us. They should ask and make their researches about what the country wants.”
The statement added, “The pastor’s statement was not a political commentary aimed at attacking any personality in the country as wrongly portrayed and misrepresented by a section of the media.”
While urging members of the public to be wary of such misrepresentation, Pastor Kumuyi called on Nigerians to continue praying for the country and the manifestation of God’s will.
