Former Bayern Munich coach Ottmar Hitzfeld believes the signing of Senegal forward Sadio Mane could be a real boost for the German champions and the Bundesliga regarding performance and marketability.
“Mane is a boost for the Bundesliga. Bayern Munich have drawn the right conclusions from last season and have significantly strengthened the squad,” the 73-year-old Hitzfeld said on Friday.
Hitzfeld thinks Mané joining from Liverpool is a major transfer coup by sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic, who has been in the Bayern Munich management team for five years.

Bayern Munich have also signed Ryan Gravenberch and Noussair Mazraoui from Ajax and are battling to cling onto Robert Lewandowski.
“I already believe that Mané is a top transfer for Hasan and Bayern Munich in terms of his qualities and his status as a world-class player who has achieved a lot.
“Mané is known all over the world. His signing is immensely valuable for Bayern Munich’s image, a great asset,” Hitzfeld said.
Hitzfeld coached the Bayern Munich side from 1998 to 2004 and from February 2007 to June 2008.
