A 42-year-old man, Sunday Obasuyi and two other persons, have been arrested for kidnapping and killing of his 82-year-old father, Michael Obasuyi, in Agbado-Ekiti, Gbonyin LGA of Ekiti State.
It was learnt that Obasuyi conspired with Akinniyi and sold his father for N1.8m to a herbalist.
The prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, had told the court that the defendants conspired and kidnapped the aged man on February 1, at about 11am in Agbado-Ekiti, Gbonyin LGA, and that his corpse was some weeks later, discovered in a shallow grave.
The prosecutor further alleged that the first defendant, Obasuyi, conspired with Akinniyi and sold his father for N1.8m to the third defendant, Sunday, a juju priest.
He noted that the offences contravened Sections 280, 279 and 234 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
However, Justice Bankole Okuwasanmi, of a Magistrate’s court sitting in Ado-Ekiti, ordered that the suspects, Sunday Obasuyi (42), son of the deceased; Akinniyi (51) and Bobafe Sunday (51), be remanded in a correctional facility in Ado Ekiti pending advice from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
