Argentine legend Lionel Messi has once again claimed the prestigious The Best FIFA Men’s Player award for 2022, beating out fierce competitors Kylian Mbappe and Karim Benzema in a thrilling race for the title.
Messi’s remarkable performance during the World Cup in Qatar last year was the highlight of his award-winning year.
The 35-year-old athlete delivered a series of career-defining performances that helped Argentina secure the coveted title for the first time since 1986.
Messi also became the first player in the tournament’s history to score at every stage and made a record-breaking 26 appearances, earning him a second World Cup Golden Ball.
After an initially rocky departure from Barcelona, Messi quickly found his form with his new club, Paris Saint-Germain. His stellar performances helped PSG clinch the Ligue 1 title in the 2021/22 season and put them in a good position to repeat that feat this year, although they will need to work hard in the Champions League, having lost the first leg 1-0 to Bayern Munich.
This is just another addition to Messi’s overflowing trophy cabinet. He previously won The Best FIFA Men’s Player award in 2019 and has seven Ballon d’Or trophies to his name.
Messi’s extraordinary talent and dedication to the sport have made him one of the most celebrated footballers in history, leading his fans to describe him as the Greatest Of All Times.
