Amid widespread reports to the contrary in the social media space, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, Dr. Olajide Adediran, who is popularly called Jandor, has denied picking famous Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele, as his deputy governorship candidate ahead of the 2023 polls.
Akindele, popularly called ‘Jenifa’ after one of her roles in a series, recently made the news for kicking her husband, rapper JJC Skillz, out of their matrimonial home for good.
When contacted for clarification by newsmen, governorship candidate Jandor simply dismissed the reports, saying; “I haven’t chosen nor announced Funke Akindele as my running mate.
“However, that stage will come in due course when an official public announcement will be made.”
Quest Times has however gathered that the process of selecting a credible candidate as Jandor’s running mate was ongoing; and critical stakeholders of the PDP in Lagos, were involved in the process.
According to the Head of Media and Communications, Jandor 2023 Campaign Team, Gbenga Ogunleye, “the report is not true. Not officially announced.
“This could be an insinuation from party members,” he added.
Funke Akindele, who hails from a royal family in the Ikorodu area of mainland Lagos, is still being highly tipped for the role, however, because she was born and raised in Lagos East senatorial district–a district where the deputy governorship ticket for the PDP has reportedly been zoned to.
