Rahama Sadau, a talented Kannywood actress, has remarked that one of the challenges confronting the Nigerian film industry, known commonly as Nollywood, is a lack of funds.
The actress stated on the sidelines of the presentation of a film titled ‘The Plan’ in Abuja that there are many skills and creatives, but there is little or no money.
Sadau, who has urged on the government to invest more cash in the film sector, stated that over 90% of filmmakers raise their own funds to produce films.
“Hugely, lack of funding has been a major setback for the entire industry. We have a lot of talents. We have a lot of creatives, yet we have no or little funding.
“We have almost 90% of filmmakers who bring in their money to produce films. So, what I will always plead is for government involvement.
“We have seen Avatar, Wakanda. It is not just one person that made the movie, there are a lot of producers.
“The government should look into the creative industry so that we can be a greater industry,” she said.
