The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) candidate, Abba Yusuf Kabir as the winner of 2023 Kano governorship election.
The Returning Officer for Kano State announced the result at INEC Office in Kano on Monday.
Abba Yusuf Kabir has a total of 1,019,604 votes to defeat the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate and incumbent Kano deputy governor, Gawuna who polled 884, 334 votes in March 18 election.

Meanwhile, Kano State Government has imposed dawn to dusk curfew to avoid breakdown of law and order following tensions generated from the collation of results of the governorship and state Assembly elections.
The state commissioner for information and internal affairs, Malam Muhammad Garba, made the announcement in a statement issued Monday morning.
He said the decision was to prevent hoodlums from to causing chaos in the already tensed situation.
The commissioner called on people in the state to remain indoors as security agents would not spare anyone or group bent on causing trouble.
