The Labour Party’s lawyers are currently meeting with officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abuja to inspect electoral materials used in the February 25 presidential election.
The lawyers, led by Dr Livy Uzoukwu, are expected to brief journalists after the meeting with INEC.
The meeting held at the commission’s national headquarters.
The Legal Team was at INEC to discuss procedures for obtaining key documents that will aid the LP in prosecuting its case at the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC).
During the meeting, INEC Chairman Prof. Mahmood Yakubu assured the LP Legal Team that the Commission would provide all of the documents requested to prosecute its case.
“INEC has nothing to hide. Documents available at the HQ will be given immediately. We are meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners today and we will discuss how other documents at the state level could also be made available to you speedily,” Yakubu said.
