Manchester City left-back Benjamin Mendy has been hit with an additional count of rape.
Mendy who was suspended by Man City and has been remanded in police custody since August now faces a total of seven counts of rape and one sexual assault.
The former France international was charged with this additional count last week, though this was subject to reporting conditions.
But these restrictions were lifted on Wednesday as Mendy appeared back at Chester Crown Court for a hearing.

This new rape allegation was alleged to have occurred in July of 2021, while the other six rape allegations were said to have taken place between October 2020 and August 2021.
Mendy’s alleged accomplice, Louis Saha Matturie, has also been charged with six counts of rape and one sexual assault.
The defendants legal teams have applied to have the charges quashed, but could be set to enter a plea deal if the application is dismissed.
Mendy joined Man City for around £50m in 2017 from Monaco and has won three Premier League titles in Manchester, though injuries have limited him to just 75 appearances for City. Mendy was notably a member of France’s World Cup winning squad in 2018.
