IHU, a new COVID-19 variant has been discovered.

The variant–which has undergone more mutations than Omicron is more resistant to vaccines and infections.

The new variant–B.1.640.2–has been detected in at least 12 patients in France.

Scientists are still unsure how IHU–as the variant is called– will impact our world.

When Omicron broke out a few weeks ago, countries came up with red lists barring certain high risk countries from entry

But that was quickly withdrawn after it was discovered that the variant was far more widespread than initially thought.

Many worry that covid has provided a perfect opportunity for countries who are anti-immmigration to hide behind and implement strict policies.

Many countries don’t recognize vaccinations done in Africa even though they come from the west.

Some argue that the result is because there’s no database from which vaccinations can be verified.

Others say it is the West’s way of telling Africa that they’re not welcome.

With endless mutation expected, it is getting increasingly obvious that covid will be with us for a while.

With richer countries’ continued attempt to hoard vaccines and poorer ones’ inability to get them, covid will likely be with us for a very, very long time.
