Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho scored one goal and assisted on two more as Leicester defeated Aston Villa 4-2 in the English Premier League on Saturday, February 4, 2023.
Leicester ended a five-game league losing streak thanks to Iheanacho’s tenacious first-half display. It was Villa’s first league defeat in five games.
Iheanacho stripped defender Boubacar Kamara of the ball and passed to James Maddison, who tapped home to equalize immediately after Ollie Watkins’ ninth-minute goal at Villa Park.
Villa took the lead in the 32nd minute on an own goal by Harry Souttar, but Iheanacho tied the game in the 41st minute by heading in a cross from Harvey Barnes.
Iheanacho provided another assist, this time to new signing Tete, who beat goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez and put Leicester ahead in first-half stoppage time.
The 79th minute saw Dennis Praet make it 4-2 for Brendan Rodgers’ team, who will visit Tottenham the following Saturday.
Villa plays at Manchester City next Sunday.
