APC presidential flag-bearer, Bola Tinubu, surprised Vice President Yemi Osinbajo with a late evening visit on Thursday, June 9, 2022.
Both men had squared up to each other in the race for the governing party’s presidential ticket, which culminated in Tinubu emerging winner.
Osinbajo polled third behind ex-Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi.
“We got a call: Asiwaju Tinubu who was visiting President Buhari at his Presidential Villa residence this evening will be making an unscheduled stop at VP’s residence also.
“Lagos Governor accompanied him and VP received the surprise with some of his associates who he was meeting with earlier,” says Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media & Publicity, Office of the Vice President, Laolu Akande.
Akande adds that the meeting between Tinubu and Osinbajo lasted all of 30 minutes.
“The meeting was one of pleasantries and very convivial. The meeting lasted about 30 minutes,” he says.
Earlier, Osinbajo had congratulated Tinubu for his primary election victory.
Osinbajo served as Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice in Lagos, when Tinubu governed the nation’s commercial capital city from 1999 to 2007.
