Kaduna State Commissioner of Internal Security and home affairs, Samuel Aruwan has listed factors jeorpadizing the fight against banditry in the State.
The Commissioner who listed the factors to include spreading of fake news and deliberate malicious media campaigns which undermine the security and fragile peace of the state.
He said, “several key problems have been identified as contributing to insecurity in many communities.
“These factors such as Provision of protective cover by some communities to the members of their ethnic group who perpetrate heinous crimes like banditry, thuggery and kidnapping cannot be ignored in our efforts to end insecurity and build durable peace”, he said.

According to him: “Widespread politicization and ethnicization of the insecurity in the state to achieve a political agenda or cheap popularity and propagation of fake news in the social media space, which results in the escalation of hate speech cannot be ignored.
“Manipulation of faith as a tool of division. Some groups manipulate religious, ethnic and political sensitivities for their own advantage, especially to advance a cause inimical to peace and stability of the state.
“The existence of informants, who provide important and tangible information to criminals. Indeed, these informants are not only responsible for providing information, but are also instrumental to providing reinforcements to the criminals. Available information indicates that these informants reside within our communities and are among the factors affecting the war against insecurity.”
Despite those challenges, he said the Kaduna State government has continually deployed technology to destroy thousands in the enclaves.
