The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Senatorial candidate for Kogi Central in the 2023 election, Chief (Mrs) Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has filed a lawsuit at the Federal High Court, Abuja, seeking ₦5 billion in damages from Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello.
In the suit filed by Falana & Falana’s Chambers, which was obtained by Quest Times on Tuesday, Natasha is seeking compensation for the injury she allegedly suffered as a result of “the libelous publications” made by the governor through the online media to defame her integrity by linking her to terrorism in the State.
Among other reliefs, the lawyer is seeking a declaration that the derogatory remarks made against her by Yahaya Bello are totally false and injurious to her person in the eyes of the public.
She also seeks an order directing Yahaya Bello to retract the statements.
Quest Times understands that Natasha and Yahaya Bello have been making headlines in recent times, no thanks to their different political leanings.
The Kogi governor is believed to be against Natasha’s candidacy following her soaring political profile in the region.
