The 24th President of Liberia from 2006 to 2018, Madame Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, has deleted the congratulatory message sent to President-elect, Bola Tinubu, after his victory in the just concluded presidential election.
Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate winner, after he polled the highest votes cast in the election.
Sirleaf was among the first world leaders to congratulate Tinubu on his emergence as President-elect.
She wrote: “Congratulations to @officialBAT on his victory in #Nigeria and to the Nigerian people for exercising their democratic right to vote. I encourage the new president to champion #Womenleaders in his government and to ensure that the rights of men & girls remain a priority.”
Ellen has made a U-turn and deleted the congratulatory message.
Tinubu’s election is being contested in court by Peter Obi of Labour and Atiku Abubakar of PDP. Both candidates and their army of supporters insist that the election was rigged against them.
