The Edo State Police Command on Sunday said it has rescued another 12 passengers who were abducted during the attack at Igueben Train Station in the state.
This was contained in a statement issued by the state Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Dankwara, and made available to newsmen in Benin City on Sunday.
According to Dankwara, the joint security forces stormed a forest named Igboa and rescued the twelve victims unharmed, based on technical intelligence provided to the command about the kidnapped victims.
He named the rescued victims as Unice Esaba (56yrs); Marian Mowoe (28yrs); Faith Smart (42years); Precious Egwuje (28yrs); Obehi Omaben (39yrs); Amm Benson (42yrs); Favour Akungo (18yrs); Akhimen Ehiemamen (48yrs); Christian Iyere (33yrs); Emmanuel Esieba (67yrs); Iyoha Julius (25yrs); Aguelle Beatrice (42yrs).
The Commissioner also revealed that two more victims, whom he identified as “members of the Nigeria Railway Corporations,” are still being held hostage by their kidnappers.
He assured that security agents and local vigilantes are working together to ensure that the two victims are rescued unharmed.
However, this development brings the total number of rescued victims to 18.
