Popular Nigerian Comedian, Debo Adebayo popularly known as Mr Macaroni, has warned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to avoid the repeat of deploying faulty BVAS, late arrival of officials, not uploading of election results electronically, among other irregularities in the Gubernatorial and State House of Assemblies elections coming up next week Saturday.
He made the disclosure on his Twitter handle while tasking the Presidential Candidates that are aggrieved with the results to seek redress in the courts; and appealing to youths to remain calm for the next election.
The celebrity lauded the courage by the youths who came out en masse to vote during the presidential election but blamed INEC for putting Nigerians in this mess.
He said” “When you tell the youths to come and vote again they will say why because some people are angry about the results. Let the aggrieved candidates take their case to court and let the youths remain focused.
“It is a long term goal definitely. There will be small bashes here and there but let us understand ourselves and remain together as we cannot be used as instruments for politicians.
“I’m calling INEC out again to conduct credible elections. You saw all our grievances, you saw us post videos when we were harassed, being intimidated and your staff came out late, no uploading to BVAS among other lapses.
“We still want to come out to vote for our state Governors and House of Assembly members but we need to be assured because you cannot claim that you haven’t seen what has happened. The duty lies on your shoulder now to ensure that you don’t repeat these irregularities across the states.
The skit maker tasked the Nigerian police force and other security agencies to ensure effective protection of lives and properties during the governorship election and not to give room for ballot box snatchers or influential politicians to take control of certain areas.
