Following the unprecedented flooding currently ravaging Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari has mandated the Minister of Water Resources, Engr Suleiman Adamu, to come up with a plan to prevent future occurrence of the disaster.
The directive was disclosed in a statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, on Monday, October 24.

According to the president’s directive, Adamu is to liaise with other Ministries and State governments to develop a comprehensive plan to forestall a future reoccurrence.
The Quest Times reports that Nigeria has been battered by terrible flooding, with 33 out of 36 states affected by flooding.
The statement reads, “President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the Minister of Water Resources to lead and coordinate with the Ministries of Environment and Transportation as well as State Governments to develop a Comprehensive Plan of Action for Preventing Flood Disaster in Nigeria.

“The President’s directive, which was conveyed to the Minister in a letter signed by his Chief of Staff, Prof Ibrahim Gambari, said the Plan should be presented to him in 90 days.
“President Buhari is regularly receiving updates on the flooding situation in the country and restates his commitment towards addressing the challenges caused by the disaster in the country,” the statement noted.
Engr Adamu made headlines recently when he labelled the flooding an act of God.
