Leader of Afenifere, the pan Yoruba socio-political group, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, has described President Muhammadu Buhari as the worst leader in Nigeria’s history.
“Buhari is the worst, most dishonest leader this country has ever produced,” 94-year-old Adebanjo blared during an exclusive chat with Quest Times in Lagos.
He added that “Buhari is an illiterate President who doesn’t care. Buhari is a disaster. The worst this country has ever had. And I am ashamed that any Nigerian is still talking about seeing APC on the ballot paper and not tearing it off.”
Adebanjo also labelled President Buhari a civilian dictator who has been pursuing an Islamisation agenda.
The nonagenarian also dwelt on how to get Nigeria out of the current mess, why the nation has to return to federalism and a constitution that truly speaks for every Nigerian; and why Afenifere is backing Peter Obi of the Labour Party ahead of the 2023 general elections.
Pa Adebanjo also debunked insinuations in certain quarters that Afenifere is a divided house–following Pa Reuben Fasoranti’s endorsement of Bola Tinubu’s candidacy–maintaining that he remains the authentic and only leader of the Yoruba socio-political organisation.
79-year-old Buhari completes a constitutionally permissible two-term of eight years in office on May 29, 2023. He previously ruled Nigeria as a Military Head of State from 1983 to 1985.
