Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, met in Abuja on Wednesday, December 21 behind closed doors.
The duo have not been publicly seen together since the Buhari administration’s Ministerial Retreat this year.
Our sources say Tinubu’s camp has been extremely worried about how to get Osinbajo involved in the APC 2023 presidential campaigns.
QUEST TIMES recalls that Osinbajo has consistently maintained his opposition to a Muslim-Muslim ticket since 2014.
The vice president’s spokesperson, Laolu Akande, however says the meeting was convivial but far from political.
“At the meeting, VP & Asiwaju exchanged pleasantries in the spirit of the season. In response to media inquiries, this was not a political meeting,” Akande tells Quest Times.
Osinbajo was Attorney General in Lagos State during Tinubu’s eight-year spell as governor of Nigeria’s most populous state and commercial capital.
Both men squared up to each other earlier in the year, in the battle for the governing APC’s Presidential ticket.
