The Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru, has gained an early lead as results continue to trickle in.
It was gathered that he is leading with results of 12 out of the 13 local government areas of the state, already declared by the electoral commission.
Nwifuru, who is Ebonyi Speaker, is leading from the results so far announced, with the candidate of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), Ifeanyi Odii, trailing in second place with a wide margin.
Odii has won only his Onicha local government while Nwifuru has won 9 local government areas, with 15,503 in Onicha while Nwifuru polled 5,140 in the local government area.
That result was easily wiped out by Nwifuru in his Izzi local government area where he got 48, 481 votes while Odii garnered just 1,429 votes.
Nwifuru also lost in Ezza South and Ezza North local governments where he came second to APGA candidate, Bernard Odoh.
Afikpo local government, which is yet to be declared, is projected to go Nwifuru’s way as well.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner, Pauline Onyeka, said the result of the local government is on the way to the collation centre.
The results declaration is still ongoing at the time of filing this report.
