Controversial musician, Portable, has been trending following his stand-off with Police officers who came to arrest him at his restaurant in Ogun State on Tuesday, March 28, 2023.
Several videos of a visibly animated Portable challenging the police officers went viral on social media.
In the videos, he alleged that the police had been brought to his bar by internet fraudsters to arrest his staff members for no reason.
If you’re curious about the real details of Portable’s police invitation, here are five things you should know.
1. Why Police moved to arrest Portable
The Ogun Police in a statement revealed that Portable was invited for questioning after a young studio owner who claimed that Portable, together with his boys, beat him to a stupor and locked his studio, petitioned the police.
2. Who wrote the petition?
According to the Police, a young unidentified studio owner wrote the petition, but Portable in the viral video claimed that internet fraudsters had brought the police to his bar to arrest his staff members “for no reason”.
3. Portable was invited 6 times by the Police, but refused to turn up
The Ogun Police PRO explained that the police moved to arrest him after five invites were sent to him and another through his father, but he turned them all down.
“On receiving the petition from the police, an invitation letter was sent to him five times, but he refused to appear at the police station. Again, an invitation letter was sent to him through his father; he still did not come to the station.
4. Police issue Ultimatum to Portable
The Ogun state Police command has issued an ultimatum to Portable to turn himself in latest Friday, March 31, 2023.
“The police did not want a breakdown of law and order, so his arrest was to be effected on Tuesday, and now he started with all series of videos, saying all sorts of things. His father has been begging, but we have told him if he refused to turn himself in between now and Friday, he would be arrested.”
5. Portable has become an overnight TikTok sensation
During his stand-off with the Police, Portable dished out several unintentional comic quotes from “I am a Federal Government liability” to “I work with APC. Akoi Tinubu”. But one has caught the attention of viral social media platform TikTok.
In one of his animated rants, Portable stated, “I’m a baboon…I live in the zoo.. Za Zu’ which has now become a TikTok sound overnight thanks to the standoff.
