Fans of the Super Eagles of Nigeria took to social media to hail the team following a 3-1 win over Sudan in their Group D African Cup of Nations (AFCON) fixture on Saturday.
The Super Eagles victory ensured qualification for the round of 16 with a game in hand, strengthening their tag as AFCON favourites.
Goals from Samuel Chukwueze, Taiwo Awoniyi and Moses Simon gave the Nigerian side a 3-goal lead, but a peanlty in the 70th minute from Khidir gave the North Africans a consolation goal.
Reacting to the convincing win, some fans hailed the team for qualifying without the usual permutations, like in the past. Others hailed the influence of interim head coach, Austin Eguavoen, saying the team needs no foreign coach.
