Warning! If you don’t want your pastor or Imam to see the other side of you outside the holy ground, just stick to Facebook (of course, we are coming with something for you), TikTok will expose you.

With a net worth of $50bn and a community of about a billion people (bigger than the whole of Africa), TikTok is a sure-fire medium to make some good money if you are willing.

Started in September 2016, TikTok has risen to become the fourth largest online community and a huge hub for making money.

If you are in doubt, then hear this; in 2021, 17-year-old Harli D’Amelio was the highest-earning TikTok creator in 2021, raking in approximately $17.5 million (£54 million), according to Forbes.

The 17-year-old, from Connecticut, US, is the most popular person on the platform, boasting more than 133 million followers, according to Independent UK

How did he do that to you? Here are 5 major ways to make money from TikTok.

  1. You must have an account

What? You have to be part of the community to get something out of it. I know you see so many videos on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook that originated from TikTok, that is as simple as it can get.

All you need to open an account is a smart enough phone with a camera pixel brighter than some people’s future.

  2. Creativity

You must have heard the phrase ‘content is king’. It is true, even on TikTok, content rules.

Your level of creativity gives you an edge to jump into something very colourful and attractive for you to gather numbers and catapult yourself to the top.

Content is everything on this app and the more you get deep into it, the merrier it is.

One of the most influential TikTokers in Nigeria, Fehintola Olasupo, with the handle, @atomified, told Quest Times that his videos have reached hundreds of million other users through consistency and creativity.

He also revealed that brands reach out to him naturally through his bio details and have worked with a couple of organisations in the process.

TikTok has hundreds of features that can help you hone your creative skills. Like you were told when learning computer appreciation, you cannot spoil the computer by pressing the wrong key, so what do you do? TRY EVERYTHING.

The good thing about social media is that it is a playground and as a matter of fact, it is one of the few places where you can earn a living through unseriousness. Ask Mr Macaroni, Taomma, and other skit makers.

    In short, be seriously unserious.

  3. Get ready for addiction (Be tireless)

Hold on a second, isn’t that the same word they use for people heavy on drugs and other vices? Righty then, but hey, there could be some goodness in addiction after all as addiction, in this context, can help you make money from TikTok.

You remember Isaac Durojaiye Agbetusin, also known as Otunba Gadaffi, the ‘shit business’ millionaire. He was once quoted to have said “shit business is a serious business, getting to a level of addiction is a secret to unlocking a money channel.

You have to be in everybody’s face through good times and not-so-good times to be able to get the desired result.

You as a Tiktoker are a brand and like the biggest of them all, they don’t stop advertising. You have to put your face into everybody’s head… simply put, you will never mind your business.

With a good level of creativity and rich content, your consistency, which is a level of addiction would be a natural door opener for you in unlocking business partnerships.

For starters, three to five videos daily are not bad for business pursuit.

  4. Data is Life

This one is straightforward; just as cars run on fuel (I know, electric cars, yen yen yen), so is your TikTok ministry alive with data access.

This platform is easily one of the highest data-consuming mediums and that is because it runs on videos round the clock.

Unlike Facebook which gives you a no-data deal to view, TikTok doesn’t give you such soft-landing.

Your access to internet service is how you reach out to the other end of the world with your creativity.

Be adequately equipped with the best data plan that can help you achieve your dream audience the world over.

When asked about how much data is sufficient monthly, @atomified said 30Gb is a fair deal so you may need to spend money on data to make money from TikTok.

  5. Get ready to face challenge(s) and hashtags

Jesus Christ told his disciples, there would be challenges…

Of course, challenges are part of life and it is no different in the TikTok Republic.

The exciting thing about the kind of challenge you face on this app is the one that helps you get you better.

In our opening paragraph, we sounded a warning, this is where it plays out.

Challenges on this part defy your religious belief.

TikTok throws in a couple of challenges, the equivalent of what Twitter calls TRENDS and jumping on the is the easiest way to let people see you more.

Even with little followership, your level of consistency can help your engagements go sky-high if you throw yourself to challenges well enough.

Before you send your videos to the rest of the world, the use of hashtags can make a lot of difference as to how this video gets to the rest of the world and of course, increases your chance of making money from Tiktok.
