Activist and former Education Minister, Oby Ezekwesili, has expressed concern over the sudden disappearance of the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele.
Emefiele has been heavily criticized for his monetary policies and his management of the nation’s apex bank.
In recent times, rumours have been rife that DSS personnel can’t wait to arrest Emefiele for alleged financial misappropriation.

In a post on her verifiable Twitter page @obyezeks, Oby asked: “Where is Godwin Emefiele @cenbank Governor really?
“Something very strange appears to be going on with the head of our monetary authority, CBN.Â
“Has anyone seen any information on Mr Emefiele lately from the @NigeriaGov?
“Please share, thanks,” she tweeted.
A Twitter user @danielejiofor in his response said; “If you have not noticed that something strange has been happening in Nigeria for about seven and half years, then shame on you!”
Another user, @Muse2MuseNG in his response said, “Bad taste.”
Another user @feel_NN says, “Aso Rock is fishy. The President’s wife lives in Dubai, The CBN Governor is on the run, the lawmakers padded the budget and are about to borrow money through bonds, the new Naira notes redesign is shady, the President is taciturn on national issues, and all the Ministers are quiet.”
Lawmakers recently invited Emefiele to the National Assembly to explain his controversial cash withdrawal limit policy. The policy has been slammed in most quarters as unreasonable and insensitive to rural dwellers.
