Reno Omokri, former aide to President Goodluck Jonathan, has charged politicians to be committed to maintaining peace ahead of the 2023 general elections.
In a statement, Friday, Omokri said, “If I or anybody allied to me have made comments or acted in any way that may have affected the peace of mind of any of the other candidates, and their followers, please understand that that was because of the phase of campaigns we were at. Going forward, we are at a new phase.”

Omokri said his campaigns for the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, would now be issue-based, noting that his candidate, Atiku, had signed the peace accord.
“The Peace Accord by the National Peace Committee was signed yesterday (Thursday) by my candidate. We have entered a new phase of campaigns. From today, my focus will be on persuading Nigerians as to why Waziri Atiku Abubakar is the best candidate for 2023, not why others are the worst!

“I believe in my heart, my soul and my spirit that Waziri Atiku Abubakar is the best candidate running for the office of President of Nigeria. However, I do concede that if any of the three main contestant wins, they will be an improvement on the incumbent.
“This election is important to me. But it is not a do or die affair as far as I am concerned. May God, in keeping to His Word in Daniel 4:17, choose, by the votes of the people of Nigeria, the best man to fulfil His purpose for the nation Nigeria. In Yeshua’s Name I pray.”
We have earlier reported that all presidential candidates personally signed the peace accord except for All Progressives Congress (APC) flagbearer, Bola Tinubu, who was represented by his running mate, Kashim Shettima.
