Barely three months to the 2023 elections, ex-Gombe Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo has backed the candidature of the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar.
He described Atiku’s ambition as a North East project.
Dankwambo and Gombe PDP candidate Jibrin Dan Barde had earlier associated with the Integrity Group spearheaded by Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike.

The camp campaigned for the emergence of Wike as flag-bearer and has demanded the resignation of the PDP’s National chairman Dr Iyorcha Ayu as a condition to back Atiku.
However, to the surprise of many, Dankwambo was sighted at the presidential campaign in Gombe on Monday to the applause of the gathering when he was introduced by the MC, Dino Melaye. who later announced that the former donated 20 buses for the actualisation of Atiku’s aspiration in 2023.
“The whole party has welcomed Atiku, which shows they are with him,” he was quoted as saying.
Meanwhile, the Director General of the PDP Presidential campaign team, Governor Aminu Tambuwal said Atiku and PDP would never deceive Nigerians with their campaign promises if voted into power.
“The party is ready to bring back the booming economy, the peace, security and prosperity the country was known for in the past,” he said.
