Film director and actor, Ugezu Jideofor Ugezu, popularly known as Ugezu, has expressed his dissatisfaction with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over the conduct of the 2023 Presidential and National Assembly elections.
In a post on Instagram, he criticized the commission for reverting to old and outdated methods of collating election results during the ongoing election.
According to the producer, reports had surfaced as far back as November 2022 about Mr. Yakubu, the chairman of INEC, and his alleged plans to rig the election by not uploading polling unit level results in real-time.
Despite Yakubu’s denial of the allegation at the time, Ugezu believes that the ongoing election process has proven otherwise.
He believes that this has increased the possibility of election rigging, and any competent court could cancel the entire election process.
Ugezu did not hold back in his criticism of INEC, referring to the commission as a joke.
“Apparently, as far back as Nov 2022, someone leaked info that Mr Yakubu and his bullion van merchandise already had plans to rig by not uploading polling unit level results in real-time. He came out to blatantly deny it, and that’s exactly what we are witnessing now.
“On INEC refusing to upload the results in real-time, but resorting to the old analogue way that enhances rigging, any competent court can cancel the whole process. INEC is a joke,” Ugezu wrote.
