Reactions have flooded Twitter, following the emergence of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as the presidential candidate of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in the coming 2023 general elections.
Atiku’s emergence was virtually sealed following the withdrawal of Sokoto State Governor, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal from the race on the night, who went on to ask his supporters to vote for Atiku.
The former customs officer scored 371 votes to beat his closest rival Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers who polled 237 votes, with former Senate President Bukola Saraki making up the top three with 70 votes.

@renoomokri I feel fulfilled with what I am seeing at the #PDPPrimaries. I projected it and was insulted. It is now becoming a reality before the eyes of those who insulted me. This is the culmination of my #BuhariTormentor days. May God make President Atiku a reality in 2023.
@DemolaRewaju Game over. Congratulations to @atiku. Let’s go Aso Rock.
@nigeriasbest Congratulations to @atiku But on this journey, small me won’t be following you…. The ticket was for the SE & you couldn’t condemn the murder of Deborah…
@Morris_Monye Atiku got the ticket. Watch the dynamics of 2023.
@Zendel_firee Atiku becoming the president of this country sounds like a threat to my life. Someone that has been contesting before I was born. The desperation is terrifying.

@Letter_to_Jack We should all brace for a Atiku Presidency if the APC fields a Southerner. If anything has been made clear tonight, it’s the fact that Northerners will not favor a Southerner over one of their own. They have the enormous power of numbers and block votes to back it up.
@ENIBOY f you’re 30 and below, take note that Atiku Abubakar has been running for President all your life, a record six times. Will this 6th time be the charm for the retired customs officer?
@DAMIADENUGA Wike stood no chance against Atiku, no chance. He lives to fight another day.
