The People’s Democratic Party presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, visited Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike in Abuja on Monday.
Atiku had defeated Wike at the PDP’s presidential primary in Abuja on Saturday night.
With Wike yet to issue a congratulatory message, Atiku however visited the governor to call for unity for the benefit of the PDP.

“In continuation of my commitment to bring everyone on board in ensuring that the PDP stands as one united party, earlier today, I visited His Excellency Gov Nyseom Wike at his Abuja residence. This is a continuous process,” Atiku was quoted as saying after the meeting.
Atiku Abubakar emerged the flag-bearer of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, during the party’s primary held on Saturday in Abuja.
Atiku’s emergence was virtually sealed following the withdrawal of Sokoto State Governor, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal from the race on the night, who went on to ask his supporters to vote for Atiku.
The former customs officer scored 371 votes to beat his closest rival Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers who polled 237 votes, with former Senate President Bukola Saraki making up the top three with 70 votes.
